Slauson Connect Recreation Center

The team has been helpful not only in design but also during construction. The response and communications have been good and prompt. We appreciate Tamara and Bassam being very quick in responding to RFIs, especially during construction when things are moving very rapidly.

Project Overview

MEP engineering for the Slauson Connect Recreation Center project supports the development of a new community recreation facility located at 1301 West Slauson Avenue in Los Angeles, California. The project includes a new three-story, approximately 33,000-square-foot recreation building and an adjoining community park designed to provide valuable recreational and educational resources for the surrounding neighborhood.

The new facility incorporates state-approved modular construction and includes spaces for childcare, classrooms, community activities, and administrative support. The project required a coordinated MEP engineering approach to integrate building systems with the modular construction methodology while supporting the functional needs of a modern community facility.

Project Scope

MEP engineering services include mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design for the new recreation center. The project was developed with two engineering scope options: one including complete MEP design within the modular building construction, and a second assuming the modular manufacturer would provide the internal MEP systems, limiting the engineering scope to supporting infrastructure and coordination.

Engineering efforts focus on delivering reliable building systems, coordinating utility services, and integrating modular construction with site infrastructure to support efficient installation and long-term facility performance.

Why Architects Choose Us

Architects rely on our civic and institutional engineering experience to coordinate building systems across complex construction methodologies and public facility programs.

  • Modular Construction Coordination – MEP systems integrated with state-approved modular building construction and site-installed infrastructure.
  • Civic Facility Expertise – Engineering supports childcare, classrooms, community activities, administrative functions, and public spaces.
  • Flexible Scope Strategy – Engineering evaluated both complete MEP design and modular-manufacturer-provided internal system approaches.
  • Site Utility Coordination – Permanent utilities coordinated with prefabricated building connection points and surrounding site improvements.
  • Ground-Up Development Experience – Building and infrastructure systems coordinated for a new three-story community facility.

We work as a collaborative MEP engineering consultant, helping architects deliver efficient, constructable, and reliable civic and community facilities.
