This project involves partial interior renovations within the existing two-story Herb Alpert Music Center at Los Angeles City College in Los Angeles, California. Improvements will focus on select corridors, stairways, lounge areas, and building entry zones, including the addition of a new entry/exit door. The scope is based on preliminary design descriptions, as-built drawings, and schematic design PDFs received on January 18, 2025. All design work will undergo the required DSA submittal and approval process.
Our electrical design services include a full assessment of existing building systems and the development of a complete interior electrical design. Work includes evaluating existing equipment capacity and points of connection, preparing lighting circuiting and control plans, emergency egress lighting layouts, and power distribution for mechanical, plumbing, and kitchen systems. The scope also includes low-voltage conduit provisions and a single-line diagram to support overall system coordination.
Mechanical design services include evaluation of the existing HVAC system for capacity and reuse, followed by design modifications to support the renovated spaces. This includes equipment reuse or replacement recommendations, revised ductwork layouts, and diffuser modifications to ensure proper air distribution and system performance aligned with the new interior layout.
Plumbing design services include an assessment of existing waste, water, and vent systems, along with the design required to support new plumbing fixtures in renovated areas. The scope also includes condensate drainage provisions for any new HVAC equipment to ensure proper integration with existing infrastructure.
