Project Overview
The project involves the interior renovation of an existing medical MRI suite located at 1441 Eastlake Avenue in Los Angeles, California. The renovation includes upgrades to the reception area, restroom, MRI room, control room, equipment room, exterior equipment yard, and supporting spaces, totaling approximately 1,800 square feet. This project is located within an OSHPD 1 hospital facility and will be designed in accordance with applicable healthcare regulatory requirements. The scope of work is based on information received on January 15, 2025.
Project Scope
Electrical Engineering
Our electrical scope includes a full assessment of existing conditions and the design of a complete interior power and lighting system for the MRI suite renovation. Services include reviewing available as-built documents, evaluating existing system capacity and load requirements, and identifying points of connection for new equipment. The work covers interior lighting circuiting, lighting controls, emergency egress lighting with required photometric calculations, and energy code compliance documentation. Power distribution plans will be developed to support all mechanical, plumbing, and medical equipment needs, including MRI equipment located both inside the suite and within the exterior equipment yard. Low-voltage conduit pathways will be incorporated for system coordination, and a single-line diagram with supporting voltage drop and AIC calculations will be provided where applicable.
Mechanical Engineering
The mechanical scope consists of evaluating existing HVAC conditions and designing appropriate system modifications to support the MRI suite upgrade. Work includes developing zoning layouts, specifying new mechanical equipment—including an exterior condensing unit—and revising existing supply and return ductwork to suit the renovated layout. New air distribution and diffuser layouts will be designed to support comfort, code compliance, and specialized healthcare requirements. Mechanical energy compliance documentation will be provided, along with ventilation and cooling system design tailored specifically for MRI equipment needs.
Plumbing Engineering
Our plumbing services include assessing the existing plumbing infrastructure and designing system revisions to support the renovated MRI suite. This includes new plumbing fixtures for the control area and restroom, integration of required HVAC condensate drainage, and any necessary modifications to waste, water, and vent systems. A plumbing riser diagram will also be provided to support coordination and permit requirements.
