Project Overview

This project features the interior renovation of a luxury retail space at the prestigious Stanford Shopping Center in Palo Alto, California. The renovation will elevate the store experience with upgraded power, lighting, HVAC, and plumbing systems, and will introduce a stylish new in-store café designed to complement the brand’s high-end aesthetic. Covering approximately 5,200 square feet, the redesigned space will blend functionality with sophistication to create an inviting and seamless shopping environment.

Project Scope

Electrical Engineering
Our electrical design scope includes a comprehensive review and coordination of all power-related systems to ensure safety, efficiency, and compliance with state codes. This involves reviewing existing as-built drawings, coordinating with the landlord for utility upgrades, and assessing system capacity to determine if additional electrical equipment is required. The design will cover a complete interior electrical system, including power circuiting, lighting circuit plans, emergency egress lighting layouts, and compliance documentation. It will also incorporate conduit layouts for low-voltage systems and necessary calculations such as voltage drop and short circuit (AIC) analyses.

Mechanical Engineering
The mechanical design focuses on creating a high-performance HVAC system that ensures comfort and energy efficiency throughout the renovated space. This includes reviewing existing site conditions, developing zoning diagrams for coordination, and designing new HVAC equipment along with updated air distribution layouts. The scope also includes specifying supply and return diffusers, providing ventilation for new restrooms and water heaters, and completing all state-required mechanical energy and envelope (Title 24) compliance forms for any façade changes.

Plumbing Engineering
Our plumbing design scope includes a thorough review of existing conditions and as-built drawings, followed by the design and coordination of new plumbing systems to support both the renovated restrooms and the new café area. This includes providing piping layouts for all new fixtures, condensate drainage for HVAC equipment, and connections for new water heaters. A detailed plumbing riser diagram will also be prepared to ensure proper system coordination and code compliance.

Fire Alarm / Fire Sprinkler
For life safety systems, our scope includes reviewing existing fire alarm and sprinkler system drawings, observing site conditions, and providing performance specifications and notes for construction documentation. These will serve as the basis for the contractor’s detailed design and installation, ensuring compliance with applicable fire protection standards.
