The team has been helpful not only in design but also during construction. The response and communications have been good and prompt. We appreciate Tamara and Bassam being very quick in responding to RFIs, especially during construction when things are moving very rapidly.

Project Overview

MEP engineering for the Gucci – South Coast Plaza Main Store project supports the comprehensive interior renovation of an approximately 17,500-square-foot, two-story luxury retail space at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, California.

The project involves a full MEP design to support the transformation of the existing store into an updated luxury retail environment. New and revised mechanical, electrical, lighting, and plumbing systems are coordinated with the architectural and interior design to support merchandise presentation, customer comfort, retail operations, and back-of-house functions.

Because the final space plan was still under development at the start of engineering, the project required a flexible design approach capable of adapting to evolving architectural and brand requirements.

Project Scope

MEP engineering services include new and revised HVAC, electrical power, lighting, and plumbing design throughout both levels of the approximately 17,500-square-foot store.

Building systems are coordinated with the luxury retail environment to support sales areas, merchandise displays, fitting rooms, point-of-sale functions, employee areas, storage, and associated support spaces. The engineering design integrates the renovated tenant systems with South Coast Plaza’s existing base-building infrastructure.

Close multidisciplinary coordination is required throughout design to accommodate evolving space plans while maintaining constructability and the high level of architectural detailing associated with a Gucci retail environment.
