Medical Center of Santa Monica
Project Overview
This project involved selective interior and exterior renovations to the entry area of the Medical Center of Santa Monica, focusing on upgrades to the lighting, power, and plumbing systems. The scope covered multiple key zones within the facility, including medical office lobbies, the security and information kiosk, courtyard, driveway and driveway tunnel, drop-off area, building soffits, and storefronts. The renovated areas totaled approximately 1,900 SF for the medical office lobbies, 100 SF for the security/information kiosk, 3,200 SF for the courtyard, 4,900 SF for the driveway tunnel, and 4,500 SF for the parking garage entry and golf cart shuttle drop-off, enhancing both functionality and the overall user experience.
Project Scope
Electrical Engineering
Lam+Tea provided complete electrical engineering design services, beginning with a review of available as-built drawings and existing site conditions to verify the electrical point of connection and assess system capacity. The scope included the design of a full interior electrical system, preparation of lighting circuiting plans and Title 24 lighting control intent diagrams, emergency egress lighting layouts with required photometric calculations, and state lighting energy compliance documentation. Additional services included power distribution planning for general, mechanical, and plumbing loads, coordination of 120/208V power for systems equipment, integration of empty conduits for low-voltage systems, development of single-line diagrams, and completion of voltage drop and short-circuit (AIC) calculations.
Plumbing Engineering
Plumbing design services included the review of as-built drawings and existing site conditions to support the new system requirements. The scope covered the design of plumbing for new fixtures, HVAC condensate drainage, and coordination with the Civil Engineer for drain sizing, points of connection, and all associated plumbing needs to ensure a fully integrated and compliant system.
