This project involves a limited interior renovation of a high-end retail space located at the Stanford Shopping Center in Palo Alto, California. The scope includes updated design work for power, lighting, and HVAC systems to support the reconfiguration of the store layout. Specific improvements include power and lighting for new product display cases, enhanced front-of-house ceiling lighting, system modifications for a planned retail expansion area, and back-of-house upgrades. The scope is based on information received on July 7, 2025, with final space plans and design details to be provided.
Electrical Engineering
Lam+Tea provided electrical engineering services beginning with a review of available as-built drawings and coordination with the landlord regarding utility upgrades and consolidation. The scope included assessing the existing electrical system capacity to determine the need for additional equipment and designing the complete interior electrical system. Services covered lighting circuiting plans, exterior lighting and signage circuiting for façade-mounted elements, Title 24/state energy code lighting control intent, emergency egress lighting layouts with required photometric calculations, and completion of state lighting energy compliance forms. Power distribution planning included general loads and power requirements for mechanical and plumbing systems, along with provisions for low-voltage conduit coordination. Single-line diagrams, voltage drop, and short-circuit (AIC) calculations were also included.
Mechanical Engineering
Mechanical design services included reviewing existing HVAC conditions and as-built documentation, preparing zoning diagrams, and developing a new air distribution layout for the expansion area. The scope also included the specification and design of new supply and return diffusers and the preparation of state mechanical energy compliance calculations and forms.
Fire Alarm / Fire Sprinkler
Scope included reviewing as-built documentation and existing site conditions, as well as providing performance specifications and notes for inclusion in the construction documents to support required fire alarm and fire sprinkler system modifications.
