Project Overview
This project involves the interior renovation and expansion of a single-story, high-end retail space at Topanga Mall in Topanga, California. The scope includes new and revised designs for power, lighting, HVAC, and plumbing systems to support the upgraded store layout. Based on files and correspondence received on January 11, 2022, the renovation will impact approximately 7,900 square feet of retail space. Final space plans and designs are pending, allowing for flexible coordination as the project progresses to ensure a functional, visually appealing, and code-compliant retail environment.
Project Scope
Electrical Engineering:
Electrical engineering services for this project focus on delivering a fully coordinated and code-compliant interior electrical system. Services include reviewing as-built drawings, evaluating existing system capacity, and designing interior and exterior lighting circuiting, lighting control diagrams per Title 24, emergency egress lighting, and power distribution for mechanical and plumbing systems. The scope also includes coordination of low-voltage conduit layouts, single-line diagrams, voltage drop and short-circuit calculations, and power for low-voltage equipment racks. All layouts and specifications are coordinated with the architect and manufacturer to ensure a reliable and efficient electrical infrastructure tailored to the retail space.
Mechanical Engineering:
Mechanical engineering services focus on optimizing the HVAC system to provide comfort, efficiency, and code compliance throughout the renovated and expanded retail space. Scope includes reviewing as-built drawings, observing existing site conditions, providing zoning diagrams, designing new HVAC equipment, specifying supply and return diffusers, developing air distribution layouts, and providing exhaust for restrooms and ventilation for water heaters. State mechanical energy compliance calculations and forms are also included to ensure regulatory adherence.
Plumbing Engineering:
Plumbing engineering services deliver comprehensive design for all water, drainage, and HVAC-related piping systems in the renovated retail space. The scope includes reviewing as-built drawings, assessing existing conditions, designing piping for new restrooms, breakrooms, water heaters, and HVAC condensate drainage, and preparing plumbing riser diagrams. These services ensure a functional, efficient, and code-compliant plumbing system that supports the expanded store layout.
